Label Text
The sinuous form of this dancing young woman relates to its initial setting in a fountain. In the early 20th Century, several sculptors created fountains with figural elements that represented spritely nymphs, minor goddesses of streams, springs and other bodies of water.

Born and raised in San Antonio, Bonnie MacLeary was a child prodigy. She studied both with William Merritt Chase in New York and William Bouguereau in Paris, both of whom are represented in the Museum’s American and European collections.
