Label Text
A collaborative work, Terry Allen and James Drake created a drawing that was the basis for this tapestry, which was produced by weavers in Oaxaca, Mexico. Both artists grew up in west Texas and draw upon their experience of the borderlands between Texas and Mexico in their work. Combining disparate text and imagery—including a monkey holding a bouquet of roses and the words “Poison” and “Amor” (“love” in Spanish)—Allen and Drake explore tensions between beauty and danger.
