Employing hard-edged geometric shapes and a bold palette of primary colors, black, and white, Wai Ching Lam’s composition balances order and dynamism. A native of Hong Kong, Lam studied physics at Radcliffe College (now part of Harvard University) and continued her graduate studies at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Later in life, she pursued her passion for art, studying at the Art Students League in New York and first mastering traditional Chinese watercolor techniques before turning to abstraction. Her exuberant compositions bear the precision of scientific inquiry alongside the vitality of pure form, color, and line.
