Label Text
(Group label) Many small figures of women with their arms folded across their chests were fashioned by the inhabitants of the Cycladic Islands during the Early Bronze Age. Similar figures have been found in both tombs and settlements and may have played a role in Cycladic cult practices. The figures are carved from marble, which occurs naturally on several of the islands. (Jessica Powers 2008)
