Label Text
Workshops closely connected with the royal courts of Egypt’s New Kingdom made precious glass vessels to hold costly scented oils and unguents. Core-formed vessels like this one were shaped around a clay core and decorated with glass threads worked into a decorative pattern. This technique was adopted from glassmakers in the Near East: in this period, Egyptian kings conquered parts of the Levant and had extensive diplomatic ties and trade links with Near Eastern rulers.
