This work employs the language of graphic novels and comics to depict an embattled American space. Vincent Valdez’s screen print shows Chavez Ravine,
a predominantly Mexican-American community in Los Angeles that was forcibly evicted and repossessed over a decade in the 1950s to build a new stadium for the Dodgers. The vintage cars and neighborhood street suggest this is Chavez Ravine before it was demolished, with a statue of Christ the Redeemer interpolated into the scene.
