Portraying confidence beyond his age, this young boy stares assuredly at the camera and poses with the swagger of a hip-hop artist. For over forty years, Earlie Hudnall Jr. has photographed historically Black neighborhoods around Houston, Texas. While these communities remain underserved, Hudnall makes their inhabitants visible—highlighting moments of family and togetherness and preserving their history and culture. Hudnall often photographs the neighborhoods’ youth as symbols of strength, potential, and resilience. (Lana Meador, 2021)
