The people of Teotihuacan primarily used obsidian to create tools for domestic or ceremonial activities. This rare pendant demonstrates the creativity of the makers and multifunctionality of the raw material. This unique brown-colored obsidian is only found in western Mexico which speaks to trade relationships across Mesoamerica. (Bernadette Cap, 2022)
