Luis Jiménez conveys movement and sensuality with exuberant linework and vibrant color. He grew up in El Paso, Texas, and conceived of the “fiesta dancers” theme to represent the region’s multiculturalism. The figures are engaged in a traditional Mexican folk dance called a ‘jarabe’, which mimics courtship between two lovers. Jiménez returned to the “fiesta dancers” theme many times in various media, including the bronze sculpture on view nearby.

Luis Jiménez comunica movimiento y sensualidad con exuberantes trazos y colores vibrantes. Jiménez creció en El Paso, Texas, y concibió el tema de bailarines folklóricos para representar el multiculturalismo de la región. Estas figuras participan en una danza folklórica tradicional llamada jarabe, la cual imita el cortejo entre dos amantes. Jiménez regresó al tema de bailarines folklóricos en múltiples ocasiones y en distintos medios, incluida la escultura de bronce que se puede ver en las inmediaciones.
