This turtle-shaped coin bank was featured in the 1940 exhibition titled, Twenty Centuries of Mexican Art, presented by the Museum of Modern Art in New York City. Animals, especially piggy banks, were a popular subject of Tonalá pottery. This work is decorated with blue and red floral designs common in early twentieth century Tonalá ceramics.

Esta alcancía con forma de tortuga se exhibió en la exposición de 1940 titulada Veinte Siglos de Arte Mexicano, presentada por el Museum of Modern Art de Nueva York. Los animales, en especial las alcancías con forma de marranita, eran un tema popular en la cerámica de Tonalá. Esta obra esta decorada con diseños florales azules y rojos, comunes en la cerámica de comienzos del siglo XX.
