DescriptionA Chinese model of a Buddhist lion seated on a drum; the animal sits upright with chin raised, one foreleg rests on a brocade ball and a ribbon held in its mouth trails down its flanks, its bifid tail raised, it wears a collar with a bell and tassels around its neck; the drum with raised "nail heads" around both top and bottom edges and with four lion masks quartering the middlle; porcelain with turquoise, amber and dark blue enamels applied to the biscuit.
