Label TextLa Vernia, Texas native Eliseo Alvarado began sculpting animals out of cement in the 1980s, after he retired as a groundskeeper for the City of San Antonio. His sculptures were on display in front of his home on the West Side of San Antonio. Alvarado and his family donated two of his sculptures to the San Antonio Museum of Art in the late 1980s, after their presentation in the exhibition Art Among Us, co-organized by SAMA and the Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center.
Eliseo Alvarado, originario de La Vernia, Texas, empezó a esculpir animales de cemento en la década de 1980, después de jubilarse como jefe de mantenimiento para la ciudad de San Antonio. Exhibía sus esculturas en frente de su casa en el lado oeste (West Side) de la ciudad. Alvarado y su familia donaron dos de sus esculturas al Museo de Arte de San Antonio (SAMA) a finales de los ochenta, luego de su presentación en la exposición “Art Among Us,” organizada conjuntamente por SAMA y el Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center.
