This piece is characteristic of the iron roof crosses popularized in the central highlands of Ecuador during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. The script at the bottom of the cross reads Pecaron Adan y Eva, or “Adam and Eve have sinned.”

Esta pieza es característica de las cruces de techo popularizadas en la sierra central del Ecuador a finales del siglo XIX y principios del XX. El texto al pie de la cruz dice, “Pecaron Adán y Eva,” reforzando la temática bíblica del objeto.
