The distinctive figures of Akhenaten, with fleshy abdomen, heavy buttocks and thighs, and spindly calves is shown standing between two offering stands heaped with lotus blossoms and buds in this fragmentary relief. The pleats and sash of the king's kilt have been carved with special attention to detail. The slight curvature of this relief indicates that it probably comes from a large decorated column that once stood in the Aten Temple at Amarna. (Gallery Label, 8/2002).
