Because of their sharp eyesight and ability to soar higher than other birds, falcons became associated with the sun and sky. Here, the sun-disk further identifies this falcon-headed god as a solar deity. Two of the most well-known falcon-headed gods are Ra and Horus, both solar deities linked to the living king.
