Trench art is a kind of popular art created mainly by soldiers, interned peoples, and civilians living around conflict zones using available materials. These two engraved shell casings date to the Chaco War (1932–1935), which was fought between Paraguay and Bolivia over control of part of the Chaco Real region of South America. This shell casing is inscribed with a dedication to the artist’s mother.
El arte de trinchera es un estilo de arte popular creado principalmente por soldados, poblaciones recluidas y aquellos que viven alrededor de zonas de conflicto, y se hace utilizando materiales disponibles. Estas dos vainas grabadas proceden de la Guerra del Chaco (1932-1935), que se libró entre Paraguay y Bolivia por el control del Chaco Boreal. Esta vaina esta inscrita con una dedicatoria a la madre del artista.
