Ceramic roof ornaments are a deep-seated tradition in the towns of southern Peru. This roof ornament is crafted in a style commonly found in the towns of Quinua and Huamanga in the department of Ayacucho; sculptors create these ornaments that represent churches from larger cities in Peru. They intentionally fashion the bell towers to rise out of the church’s narrow base to accentuate the perspective of height when observing the roof ornaments from the ground.
