DescriptionStanding male with bitumen over much of body but not clothing. Wears headgear that has a strap under the chin, a long necklace, and leg and arm bands. Arms are outstreached forward and holding a possible weapon/club.Label TextThis impressive warrior figure is remarkable for its size, good condition, and excellent sculptural quality. Bitumen (tar) was used extensively on the ceramics from this region of Mesoamerica to represent body decoration and to define a class of individuals set apart from others.
