DescriptionStirrup jar decorated with horizontal lines and bands around the body, and stem and tongue patterns on the shoulder.Label Text[Group label, 85.106.1.a-g] This group of vases includes two shapes, the stirrup jar and the kylix (or drinking cup), that are typical of Mycenaean pottery production in the Late Bronze Age. The stirrup jar takes its name from the two stirrup-like handles behind the spout. These jars served as containers for olive oil or perfume. One of the cups in this group (85.106.1g) imitates a Cypriot type and may have been made on mainland Greece specifically for export to Cyprus.
