These mummies contain complete falcon skeletons. The X-ray of the left mummy shows the falcon with the wings folded in close to the body and the legs outstretched. The limbs are bent slightly and the skull appears to be pointing upwards from the neck.
The mummy on the right is wrapped in a nontraditional manner. It is possible that its limbs were removed and replaced in the incorrect position. The sharp angle of the head and neck in relation to the lower spine, visible in the X-ray, indicates that this bird was decapitated.
The darkness of the wrappings of both of these mummies is probably the result of dipping the birds in hot resin after mummification.
