DescriptionHammered copper mask that has oxidized to a green color. It has major hallmarks of Chimu metal masks, including wing-shaped eyes, long rectangular ears, and ear pendants. Along the length of the ears is a row of attached copper circles.Label TextThis copper mask is a representative example of Chimu copper artisan's skills. It was created using cold hammering and has oxidized naturally to develop its green color. Masks such as this have been recovered archaeologically from elite burials, that would contain from one to five masks, only one of which would be placed over an individual's face.
