Label TextVessels fashioned in the form of architecture have a long tradition within Andean societies. In some cases they may represent a style of building rather than a specific structure. This vessel depicts one such style in the open, gable-roofed building, in which a human figure sits looking out. Attached by a handle to this is a three-tiered pyramidal structure. One can imagine that this handle may have been a visual link between the activities that took place in both buildings. The base of the vessel creates the platform on which the structures were built. Many vessels of this type functioned as a whistle, with sound produced by blowing into the spout or tilting it from side to side when filled with water. (Bernadette Cap, 2021)
