In this tapestry a human figure appears seated on an ox, surrounded by a herd of livestock gathering by water. This work was a collaboration between artist and activist Francisco Toledo and an expert weaver, both from Oaxaca, Mexico. Toledo was of Zapotec ancestry and is widely considered to be one of Mexico’s most important contemporary artists. He worked in a variety of media including assemblage, ceramics, painting, printmaking, sculpture, and textiles.
En este tapiz aparece una figura humana sentada sobre un buey, rodeada por un rebaño que se reúne en torno al agua. Este trabajo fue una colaboración entre el artista y activista Francisco Toledo y un experto tejedor, ambos de Oaxaca. Toledo era de ascendencia zapoteca y se le considera uno de los artistas contemporáneos más importantes de México. Trabajó en una variedad de medios, incluidos collages, cerámicas, pinturas, grabados, esculturas y tejidos.
