The curled lips and round eyes applied to this vessel are features associated with the rain god, Tlaloc. It was imperative to appess and feed Tlaloc to ensure a good growing season. Vessels such as this may have been important during ceremonies dedicated to Tlaloc (Bernadette Cap, 2022).
