Label TextThis small yet powerful cityscape suggests the rapidly changing world of New York City in the early twentieth century. Against the vertical masses of new buildings and skyscrapers reaching towards the sky, Julian Onderdonk juxtaposes the rectangular, lighter notes of laundry drying in the breeze, humanizing the city’s canyons. San Antonio native Julian Onderdonk was a tireless observer of the natural world, whether urban or rural, as works like this demonstrate.
