The Etruscans dedicated terracotta votives in the form of various body parts to the gods as part of the process of petitioning the gods for healing. The votives apparently represented the afflicted part of the body. In addition to the body parts on display here, terracotta votives were often made in the form of breasts, genitals, and internal organs.
