DescriptionA well painted blue and white vase of slender baluster form, the sides decorated with a continuous scene of an envoy kneeling before a group of dignitaries, flanked by warriors clad in elaborate armour, all standing in front of a large screen painted with turbulent waves, in a fenced garden of leafy trees and ornamental rockwork, beneath stylized ribbons of clouds round the shoulders, the flared neck encircled by a raised horizontal band and painted with sprays of peony, day lily and chrysanthemum.ProvenanceMr. and Mrs. Walter F.
