DescriptionDecorated with grape vines.Label TextThis magnificent dish is decorated with a grape pattern in the center. A floral scroll of lotus, chrysanthemum, morning glory, hibiscus, and crab apple with corresponding leaves is painted on the interior walls. A turbulent wave pattern is on the rim. An almost identical piece can be found in the Persian royal collection, currently housed in the Ardebil shine, Iran. Large dishes like this piece were made for the foreign market and had long been treasured by the Persian and Ottoman royals. Grapes were among the exotic fruits to arrive in China during the Han dynasty (206 BC–AD 220) via the Silk Road.On view
