DescriptionDrinking vessel with a single tall loop handle, decorated with geometric patterns in dark brown on a beige ground. On the neck, horizontal bands separate bands of running spirals, zigzags, and dots. Around the body, clusters of four vertical lines separate panels decorated with heron-like birds and deer alternating with four-petalled rosettes.Label TextStylized herons and deer inhabit compartments within the geometric patterns that decorate these two vessels. In addition to serving as tableware, cups and jugs like these were sometimes deposited in human burials as grave goods: similar vessels have been found in the Early Iron Age cemeteries of Athens. (J.
