DescriptionA rare large blue and white Ming style moon flask, painted in fifteenth century style with simulated "heaped and piled" effect; the flattened circular body slightly domed on both sides, decorated with lotus, chrysanthemums and peonies growing from leafy scrolling stems; the sides with a band of floral scroll meander and a boss on each side; the raised neck and garlic mouth with a scrolling lotus meander between rising lappets and a foliate scroll band, flanked by strap handles with ruyi-shaped terminals enclosing a floral meander; the splayed foot with a foliate scroll band, the base with a six-character seal mark in underglaze-blue.Exhibition History"Texas Collects: China," The Trammell & Margaret Crow Collection of Asian Art, Dallas, TX, July 12 - September 30, 2008.MarkingsSix-character Qianlong mark in underglaze blue on baseNot on view
