DescriptionAn inkstone of drum form; the cylindrical sides stand on a flared foot and rise to a flaring, flattened rim; the inkwell is defined by a bracket within the circular form of the piece; carved clouds fill the interstices; the sides pierced with a large bracket form vent hole are moulded with panels of impressed diaper patterns; coarse buff pottery covered with green and amber glazes but for an unglazed rectangle on the sloping floor of the inkwell left to provide a surface on which to grind the ink.On view
