DescriptionThis group of five objects represent the epitome of Vietnamese long ceramic production. The white plate is decorated with an aquatic scene painted in cobalt blue. A mandarin fish, native to southern China, is portrayed swimming among water reeds. This scene is framed by six evenly spaced cloud scrolls. The cavetto is decorated with floral scrolls. The flattened rim has a densely drawn swirling pattern below a raised unglazed mouth rim. The underside is covered with a brown wash of iron oxide.
