DescriptionA large Chinese vase of inverted baluster form, Guan; porcelain decorated in the Fahua manner, the trailed slip design lavishly applied to a dense design of peacocks or possibly fenghuang amongst rocks and flowering tree peonies below a band of cloud collar containing flowering branches of a range of flowers including lotus and chrysanthemum; the interstices draped with strings of pearls and pendant auspicious symbols; below, a band of lappets; a further band of lapped ruyi heads marks the base of the neck which is decorated with clouds, all in pale yellow, clear, aubergine and turquoise enamels on a dark inky blue ground.
